Round Up 3 Pt 1: Week 12/19

We're splitting this one up.

I don’t know who of you all watch all the seasons of Netflix’s The Ultimatum - but I do. I watch a lot of shit like that and I desperately need to talk about this season of fuckery because WHAT? How could I want to fight so many people on one show? Wow. I also (this is not a real spoiler) have never thought about getting a chip installed on a fingernail, but it is fucking ON now. I want it. I got it. And now I’ve made an Ariana Grande reference, I’m sorry to myself.

Speaking of chips, there’s the thing that I keep bringing up to people and keep getting surprised that they don’t know about - Google’s Willow. The Quantum Chip. It’s sadly, not a nail chip, nor a delicious potato chip that “doesn’t actually touch your tastebuds” but it…ahem… here read below if you’re too done with it all to click on that link I just gave you. No judgement. I’m exhausted too.

Willow performed a standard benchmark computation in under five minutes that would take one of today’s fastest supercomputers 10 septillion (that is, 10²⁵) years — a number that vastly exceeds the age of the Universe.

No big deal, you guys. No problem. Are there a bunch of people on the interwebs concerned that Willow just opened portals to the multiverse in order to do this computation - yes that is a concern that’s being had. Are they also all, “that’s where the orbs/plasmoids are coming from,” yeah, yeah. Some of them are. So… there’s that. On top of the everything else.
